When I was in Sri Nagar, Kashmir last year, Dr. Paul shared his experience like this:
“While I was in the hospital, all of a sudden, a masked man came and threatened me at gunpoint, “Give me Rs. 5 lakhs immediately, or I will kill you.”
I replied, “My life is not in your hands. It is in Jesus’ hands. He has got the keys of life and death.”

Today most of the people live in terror and anguish 24/7 . Courage and boldness is the blessing from the Lord and fear is a curse the Lord sends on those who violate His commandments and sin.
“And on those of you that are left I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them, and they shall flee as if fleeing from a sword. And they shall fall when none pursues. Lev 26:36
Even the sound of a leaf is chasing many people, even believers today. How sad even many believers today live in continuous fear. Courage and boldness is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

It is written in Exodus chapter 15 and 16 that the Israelites walked through the desert for three days and did not find any water. It is also written that they starved in the desert without food for some time. Have we ever starved for food? Have we ever gone without water after a long walk? How will we respond if we starve and thirst with uncertainty surrounding our survival? Isn’t it natural for an unbeliever to complain at this point?
Exodus : 16 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.
Why did the almighty God allow his people to starve and thirst? The Lord was definitely with the Israelites and still they went starving and thirsted for a while. If the Lord is with you is it possible for you to starve and thirst? Will Jesus allow this to happen?
The book of Deuteronomy, chapter 8 verse 3 says “He made you go Hungry, and then he gave you manna to eat, food that you and your ancestors had never eaten before. He did this to teach you that man must not depend on bread alone to sustain him, but on everything the Lord says”.
In the desert when the Israelites thirsted and found bitter water they complained. It is written in Exodus 15:25 that the Lord made it fit to drink and then he gave them the law to live by. The Lord is commandments are to be learnt. The people would not have learnt the commandments if they were satisfied with food and water. The book of Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 11 says “make certain that you do not forget the Lord your God when you are sufficient with everything”.
This gives us serious thought.A self sufficient Christian tend to forget the Lord and a starving person tend to learn the way of the Lord! And the Lord allows his children to be tested.
The book of Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 5 says “remember that the Lord your God corrects and punishes you just as a father disciplines his children”. The book of Hebrews chapter 12 verses 7 and 8 says
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father?
8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
The above verses say hardships are for legitimate children of God If we are without hardships then we are in the danger zone of forgetting our Father! But if the Lord has permitted some hardships we are sure we are learning his decree.
The Israelites after learning the decree of the Lord the hard way were ready to take over the entire land of Canaan. The book of Joshua chapter 2 verse 9 says “all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you”.
The above is true for us; we have to endure hardships to become strong and to learn the decree of the lord, so that the people of the land may know that the Lord is with us, he will give us this land. Very soon the land will become our Lord’s possession (Genesis 48:20).
Paul while teaching Timothy says that a good soldier of Jesus Christ will endure hardship(2 timothy 2:3), because a battle field is not a comfortable place and only a person who has learned to endure hardship can sustain in the battle, hence hardships are training given by God for battle against the evil one. People who cannot endure hardship are unfit for battle.
One of our brothers used to say “the most uncomfortable place for a true Christian is a comfortable place”. I used to think why he says such a thing? But now I understand that a good Christian is used to the battle against the dark forces and he is trained for hardships hence he is not comfortable in a comfortable place.
Battle and warfare is inevitable for a true Christian. So without undergoing training he will not be ready to face any warfare.If we are undergoing hardships, it is nothing but training given by God to us. Hence let us endure hardships as a good soldier for Christ. Let us not complain about our hardships like the Israelites did, Even the hair in our head is counted; the Lord knows our needs even before we pray! So let us leave our hardships to Jesus and prepare ourself for battle for the Kingdom of heaven is near.

Drumbeats Of Ezekiel 38: Erdogan's 'Army Of Islam' Plot Against Israel
Less than a month ago -- in advance of the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul -- the Turkish daily Yeni Şafak, which is considered one of the mouthpieces of Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), published an article entitled "A Call for Urgent Action."
The same article was also published on the newspaper's website with the more explicit title: "What if an Army of Islam was Formed Against Israel?" The article openly called on the 57 member states of the OIC to form a joint "Army of Islam" to simultaneously attack Israel from the east, west, north and south. According to Israel's Shin Bet, the source of the article appears to be the Turkish company SADAT, which among other sinister plots, is aiding Hamas with funds and military gear to create a "Palestinian" army to join in the fight against Israel.
The idea of creating an "Army of Islam" to destroy Israel was accompanied by an interactive map providing formation of military forces for a joint Muslim attack on Israel. It also provides details on military forces based in various locations.
Since the publication of Erdogan's outrageous plan, not a single US or EU official has condemned it. The US and the EU must demand that Erdogan disassociate himself from the ideas reported by Yeni Şafak and reject them in the strongest terms. Moreover, the US should put Erdogan on notice that further promulgation of his Ottoman revivalist ideology will be dealt with as a threat to the US' and EU's strategic interests, and will bear severe consequences.
No one, especially the US and EU, should dismiss Erdogan's outrageous anti-Western scheme, which poses a major security threat. It's time for the EU to permanently and publicly close the door to Turkey's prospective EU membership. No American administration should allow Turkey to threaten the destruction of one of its closest allies -- Israel. No leader who is silent about the creation of an Islamic Army should be trusted and treated as a legitimate head of state, but must be dealt with as a traitor who is inviting disaster onto his country and people.
No country that cozies up to and buys weapons from the West's enemy -Russia -- and buys oil from the Islamic State should remain a member of NATO.
And no head of state who has dismantled every democratic pillar in his country and is transforming it into an extremist Islamic state can be a trusted as an ally -- especially one who is interfering in the domestic affairs of many countries and undermining the international order.
Indeed, how many more sinister steps can Erdogan take before the EU and the US recognize that he is a threat against Western strategic interests? He must be stopped from blackmailing the West while destroying the country that was envisioned by its founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Kidnapped Girl's Church Calls on Buhari to Win Her Release from Boko Haram in Nigeria
Islamic extremists in northeast Nigeria retained the only Christian among more than 100 kidnapped girls who were freed last week, prompting the head of her church denomination to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to obtain her release.
Boko Haram refused to release Leah Nathan Sharibu, 15, because she would not renounce her faith and convert to Islam, according to released Muslim girls. The Rev. Jeremiah Gado, president of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), said in a press statement on Friday (March 23) that her parents are members of the ECWA congregation in Dapchi, Yobe state, in northeast Nigeria.
“We call on the federal government and all its agencies to ensure the immediate release of Leah Sherubu, who is a member of ECWA, without any conditions,” Gado said. “We condemn in strong terms any attempt to forcefully convert anyone from one religion to another. As a church we continue to pray for her release and the release of all abducted Nigerians.”
“The federal government of Nigeria, which has been in touch with her captors, should hasten effort and ensure that Miss Leah Nathan Sharibu and other Chibok Christian girls are released,” Pam told Morning Star News.
About 100 of the 276 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram from the town of Chibok, in Borno state, in 2014 are still missing.
Boko Haram, whose name is loosely translated as, “Western education is a sin,” has fought for nine years to impose sharia (Islamic law) on all of Nigeria, killing tens of thousands of people and displacing more than 2 million. Boko Haram militants reportedly warned parents of the returned Dapchi girls not to send their daughters back to school.
In 2015 the Nigerian military began taking back most of the territory Boko Haram had controlled, but many areas remain, and the terrorists are still mounting isolated attacks.
Christians make up 51.3 percent of Nigeria’s population, while Muslims living primarily in the north and middle belt account for 45 percent.
Nigeria ranked 14th on Open Doors’ 2018 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution.
“God is in Control:” A Nigerian Captive Defies Terrorists and Keeps her Christian Faith
Nata Sharibu, whose daughter was kidnapped from her Nigerian school last month, wishes his daughter was home, but He is proud of her defiance towards her captors by refusing to denounce her faith.
"Boko Haram insurgents decided not to release my daughter because she refused to denounce Christ,” Sharibu told reporters today. “I am happy for that, even though as a father I wish she had returned home as the rest. But God is in control,” ABC News reported.
Pakistan Christian Escapes Death for ‘Clearly Fabricated’ Blasphemy
The case against him – brought by a police officer whose protection he sought against two blackmailers – was “clearly fabricated”, his lawyer said after the 13 March acquittal.
Anjum Sandhu, from the north-eastern city of Gujranwala in the Punjab Province, went to the police in May 2015 to report that Javed Naz and Jafar Ali had extorted 20,000 rupees ($200) from him and were demanding a further 50,000 rupees ($500).
The two men were arrested, but they told the police that Sandhu, during a discussion at his school, had “used blasphemous words” and that they had a recording of him doing so.
Napoleon Qayyum, a human rights activist and relative of Sandhu, said at the time that “the blackmailing involved an audio recording of a voice that sounded like Sandhu’s. Naz, with the help of his friend, Ali, produced an audio recording with a similar voice to Sandhu’s and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not give them the money they demanded. When they once again demanded money, Sandhu consulted with his friends and lodged a complaint with the police. The police, rather than registering a blackmail case, demanded further money from Sandhu, knowing he was running a chain of schools as a successful business”.
The judges who acquitted Sandhu, Justices Sayyed Mazahar Ali Hussain Naqvi and Mushtaq Ahmad, said that, to ensure a fair, transparent and unbiased investigation, “no renowned religious scholar from the area, who would have a broad knowledge of Islam, was associated with the case”.
Their judgement notes also said: “The forensic laboratory in Lahore had no voice recognition facility… In the absence of a voice comparison report it cannot be said with certainty that the speech in question was actually made by Anjum Naz Sindhu.”
Sandhu is one of three directors of the Science Locus School in Gujranwala. At his sentencing in June 2016, Naz and Ali were also sentenced to death, but only after first serving 35 years in jail. They also received fines of 80,000 rupees ($800).
God continues to move in India amidst reports of persecution
The persecution of Christians in India has been discussed, shared, and observed. In 2013, Open Doors USA put the country on notice, ranking them 31st on the World Watch List’s worst 50 countries for Christian persecution. But just four years later, the alarming rate of persecution has brought India to 15th, and the question is: why?
Erik Morsehead with Mission India shares, “In India, over 60 percent of Christians experience direct persecution…. Forty persecution incidents are reported per month on average.”
The spike in Christian persecution is largely because anti-Christian extremism in India is rising. And while India’s cities tend to be more diverse and accepting of minority faiths, Morsehead says attacks on Christians aren’t isolated to one region or demographic.
“It can take many forms…. Where we run our Adult Literacy Classes, we had one student who became a believer and that meant that her relatives and family stopped including her in family events,” he shares.
“Another one where we had a Church Planter, it meant that he was cut off from the village’s electricity and water supply and was depending on God for where to sleep while his neighbors threw dead animals at his house to show how disgusted they were with him making the decision to follow Christ.”
For some Indian believers, being a Christian even means dying for their faith.
“Pastors have been shot. Church members have been beaten…. It’s disheartening, but it also means that a lot of things are taking place, that God is moving in mighty ways and people are recognizing that. When people recognize that and they disagree with that, they’re going to do everything in their power to stop it.”
Mission India supports Adult Literacy Classes, Children’s Bible Clubs, and Church Planter Training. While they do get stories from the field about their participants facing hostility, there are also beautiful stories about how God is moving.
“We’ve had a lot of those moments where our Church Planters engage with these people who are just really bent on persecuting these Church Planters because they believe in Jesus. But over time as they interact with these Church Planters, their hearts being to soften and they become followers of Jesus!”
The persecutors need our prayers, just as Church Planters and Christians in India need our prayers. Morsehead asks, “Pray for those hearts to be softened. Pray for those who don’t know Him, that they would come to know Him.”
As for our Indian brothers and sisters in Christ, we can “be praying that God would continue to give courage to those who know Him and are leading in India for Him. We just pray that He would give these individuals who are being persecuted the peace and endurance as well to overcome this persecution [for] what they believe.”
Open Doors USA’s World Watch List for 2018 will be released in a few months. While we wait to learn if Christian persecution in India is still increasing, we can be a physical encouragement to Indian believers by supporting the ministry of Mission India.
