Suffering for His name’s sake

These days we hear a lot of about the sufferings Christians are undergoing in our nation India. I was reminded of the vision the Lord gave in 2006. He showed me how India is going to suffer a labour pain before it comes under the rule of Jesus Christ. The Lord revealed that in India  a persecution similar to that of Rome in the early centuries, will occur.

The first edict calling for  persecution  of the Christians in Rome came in March 303. Emperor Diocletian ordered the cessation of meetings of the Christians, the destruction of the Churches, the deposition of officers of the church, the imprisonment of those who persisted in their testimony to Christ, and the destruction of the Scriptures  by fire. A later edict ordered Christians to sacrifice to the pagan gods on pain of death if they refused. Eusebius, the Church historian (260-340) pointed out that prisons became so crowded with Christian leaders and their congregations that there was not even enough rooms for criminals. Christians were punished by loss of property, exile, imprisonment, or execution by the sword or wild beasts.

Diocletian was a strong military leader who came to the imperial throne at the end of a century that was marked by political disorder in the Roman Empire. He decided that only a strong monarchy could save the empire and its classical culture. In 285 he ended the diarchy of the principate, created by Caesar Augustus in 27 B.C. by which the emperor and senate had shared authority. Out of this historical situation came the most severe persecution that the Christians ever endured.

These are the years Indian Church is going to pay  the last and greatest price for the salvation of India.

The Lord appeared to Ananias and said about Apostle Paul,

For I will show him what great things he must suffer for My name's sake. Act_9:16

If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.2Ti_2:12

Know your Bible – Sis.Angelica

Anything more than that comes from evil one

(This message was given at the night prayer on 29th July 2017 at Charles Elders Community, Retteri)

Mat 5:37  Instead, let your message be 'Yes' for 'Yes' and 'No' for 'No.' Anything more than that comes from the evil one."

This does not mean to limit your words other than yes or no.

Jesus here speaks about  the decisions you have to take yourself every moment- In our daily life we have to take decisions every moment. Every moment we are speaking to  ourselves

Yes

No

No decision (being drifted away by circumstances, others).

Your life is the result of the decisions you have taken so far.

You said “yes” to

Your studies, subject you selected in studies

The dress you wear now

The hairstyle you are having

The vehicle you own

The wife/husband you have today

Accept Jesus as your personal saviour

Can you think of the times you said “yes” to the above.

You said “No” to

The studies you didn’t choose

Some kind of  dress which you could have chosen

Another brand of vehicle you don’t have today but your friend has

Another group of worshipping people

To your family members, friends, close associates,  who persuaded you to take certain decisions

Have you delayed in taking decisions, afraid or not wanting  to say “Yes” or “No” as a result

Led and tossed by  circumstances,  situations, society  and people around you?

Have you allowed somebody else to take decisions for you

Regarding marriage, studies, buying a house, choosing a place to  settle  down, selecting job, selecting a profession, friends, selecting a Church,

Result?

Gal 6:7-8 For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap.  For he sowing to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But he sowing to the Spirit will reap life everlasting from the Spirit.

Were you  pushed to take certain decisions, in the past,  which were not of your own? Compelled to yield to somebody else’s decisions and  bear the consequences of it?

Do you have any regret over it?  Have you suffered because of that ?

This can be  the result of saying “No” at  heart and “Yes” with lips.

Or Yes at  heart and “No” with lips.

When we received baptism, I said “No” to sin, satan and all  his associates.

“Yes” to Jesus, Bible commandments and to a life led by the Spirit. (Rom. 8:14).

This Yes should be kept up in your life 24 hours/7. This yes should be a continuous process. Any one moment looking back and saying “No” is  violating Mat. 5:37

This is setting a king over you (instead of you taking decisions by yourself)  and obeying him. Jehovah, while leading the Israelites in the wilderness had warned against them.

And the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed to JehovahAnd Jehovah said to Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 1Sa 8:6 Sa 8:7

These kings when the Israelites set over them perverted their ways from the Lord  and He had to bring them back with punishments.

Prophecy NEWS Updates

Why Study Bible Prophecy?

There are six very good reasons why you should study Bible prophecy.

  1. Nearly a Third of the Bible is Prophecy

Some 31% of the Bible is God letting mankind know what the future holds. And I'm not just talking about the writings of the Major and Minor Prophets and the book of Revelation. If you don't want to read prophecy, then you also have to skip the Psalms, Jesus' own teachings in the Gospels, and pretty much all the books by Peter, Paul, Jude and John.

The Apostle Paul warned Christians, "Do not despise prophecies." He even confirmed that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God" and so that must also include the prophetic writings. And, even Jesus throughout the Gospels and Revelation, recited prophecies from the Old Testament and taught new ones. To top it all off, Jesus promised a blessing for those who read and obey the prophecies in the book of Revelation.

So, if prophecy is so important to Jesus, then shouldn't it be important to Christians as well?

  1. The Focus of Prophecy is Jesus Christ

Bible prophecy is in the end all about Jesus. Jesus declared He must fulfill prophecy so that "...all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." The angel of Revelation 19 even equated the testimony of Jesus with prophecy, declaring "...Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

If Jesus did not fulfill even one of the 109 distinct First Coming prophecies about the Messiah, then He couldn't be who He claimed to be -- the Savior.

Fulfilled prophecy validates Jesus' claim to divinity and being our Savior.

  1. Fulfilled Prophecies Prove the Bible is Truly God's Word

The Bible is unique in being prophetic. There is no religious book, not by Buddha or Krishna or Mohammed or anyone else, ever written which contains so much prophecy. And, I'm not talking about general prophecies about the future, but super specific prophecies such as the Messiah would descend from the line of David, be born in Bethlehem, be killed by crucifixion, and be raised from the dead three days later.

The actual fulfillment of all these prophecies and over a hundred more proves the Bible truly is the Word of God, and so we can put our faith in what it teaches.

  1. Bible Prophecy Motivates One to Holy Living

The Prophets and Apostles didn't just relay God's messages about the future, but they also gave powerful messages concerning living morally. For example, Romans 13 encourages, "...the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light."

When the people obeyed prophetic teachings, they grew spiritually. 1 John 3 declares, "...when He [Jesus] is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure."

They became better people, being less self-centered and more God-centered. 1 Peter 4 admonishes, "But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers... have fervent love for one another... minister to one another, be good stewards..."

When a person is more heavenly minded they'll be more generous because they're investing in eternity. 2 Peter 3 advises, "But the day of the Lord will come... Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God..."

And, the people became much better at discerning truth from falsehoods. Luke 21 warns, "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly..."

  1. Bible Prophecy Energizes Christians to Evangelize

Knowing that we're quickly running out of time before Jesus returns, Christians when they study Bible prophecy become motivated to get out there and tell people about the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Fulfilled Bible prophecies actually are an excellent apologetics tool for defending the faith. And, the Gospel is very attractive to people wanting to know what the future holds.

  1. Bible Prophecy Provides Hope for the Future

When the world seems to be careening into chaos and you wonder if God's still around, Bible prophecy tells us God certainly is still in control. In the light of Bible prophecy, these crazy current events finally make sense. They're all leading up to one big thing -- Jesus Christ's return.

And when Jesus returns, He wins! And when Jesus wins, believers in Christ, well, we win as well! So, when you live a life of anticipating victory, you too can have hope for the future.

Summary

So in summary, to reject Bible prophecy means skipping almost a third of the Bible. The focus of prophecy is Jesus Christ. Fulfilled prophecies prove the Bible is truly God's Word. Prophecy motivates Christians to holy living, to evangelism, and to have hope about the future. The Apostle Peter warned, "that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming?'" Will that be you? No! Or, will you embrace the wonder that Is Jesus Christ, the focus and fulfillment of Bible prophecy?

At Least 21 Dead In Bombing At Egyptian Church

The blast struck as Egypt's Coptic Christian community marked Palm Sunday.

Cairo: A bomb blast at a church north of Cairo killed at least 21 people and wounded dozens who had gathered for Palm Sunday mass, state media reported, in the latest apparent attack on Egypt's Coptic Christians. Some 59 people were wounded in the blast, which struck at a Coptic Church in the Nile Delta City of Tanta, 120 kilometres (75 miles) north of Cairo, the reports said. A medical official at a hospital in Tanta confirmed to AFP that at least 13 people had been killed. Palm Sunday is one of the holiest days of the Christian calendar, marking the triumphant entrance of Jesus to Jerusalem.

ISIS Claims Egypt Church Bombings That Killed 38: Report

Egyptians gather by a Coptic church that was bombed on Sunday in Tanta, Egypt. (Reuters)

Cairo: The ISIS claimed responsibility for bombing two Egyptian churches as worshippers gathered to mark Palm Sunday, killing at least 38 people in the deadliest attacks on the Coptic Christian minority in recent memory. The attacks followed a Cairo church bombing in December and came weeks ahead of a planned visit by Catholic Pope Francis intended to show support for the country's Christian minority.

The first bombing struck the Mar Girgis church in the city of Tanta north of Cairo, killing 27 people, the health ministry said. Emergency services had scrambled to the scene when another bombing rocked the Saint Mark's church in Alexandria where Coptic Pope Tawadros II had been leading a Palm Sunday service. Eleven people were killed in that attack, which the interior ministry said was caused by a suicide bomber who blew himself up when police prevented him from entering the church. The ministry said Tawadros was unharmed, and a church official said he had left the church before the bombing. At least 78 people were wounded in Tanta and another 40 wounded in Alexandria, the health ministry said.

Iranian Christians Celebrate New Believers in Mass Baptism

Being a Christian in Iran is very dangerous. Christian converts face persecution in many forms, but that hasn’t stopped 20 Iranian Christians from recently getting baptized. CBN News reports that many in the group of Christians converted to Christianity years ago, but have had to wait to be baptized due to the danger it places them in. For that reason, neither the identities of the converts nor the exact location of the baptism has been revealed. The group of converts reportedly got together to make a pilgrimage to the baptism site which was outside of Iran. "I've been waiting for this moment for nearly nine years," said one convert. "This was my wish before I die," said another.

The mass baptism was a joyous event for these fervent believers who ranged in age from teenagers to the elderly.Nearly all of them have faced consequences and persecution for deciding to put their faith in Christ, but they have persevered. And although Iran is one of the most dangerous places for Christians and government authorities fear the spread of the Gospel, it is also one of the places where Christianity is growing by leaps and bounds. There are many reports of Muslims encountering Jesus through dreams and visions. "We have been praying for years that Iranian people believe in Jesus and get baptized. Now, this dream is coming true,” said a Christian convert whose brother was murdered for his faith in 1994.

Four Nepali Christians Released After Nine Months of Wrongful Imprisonment

International Christian Concern (ICC) is elated to report that four Nepali Christians, Lali Pun, Bimkali Budha, Ruplal Pariyar and his wife Ganga, were finally released from prison when their sentences for "violence and witchcraft" after praying for a mentally ill woman were reversed.  This news comes after ICC's advocacy team led a petition to the Nepali government demanding their release earlier this year.

These Christians were originally convicted in December of last year in the District Court in Salyan after the father-in-law of a mentally ill woman accused them of abuse and witchcraft against her.  The father-in-law had brought the woman to a local church for prayer in the hopes that their efforts might heal her.  The mentally ill woman, Seti Pariyar, left the prayer service and was later found in a forest harming herself and yelling before being taken home.

After reading a media report of the incident, a complaint was made by Bhisma Pariyar. This led to the hearing and following conviction in District Court, despite the mentally ill woman and her husband testifying that the four did not act in a forceful or abusive manner. The woman also testified that she was healed because of their prayers. This wrongful imprisonment was further indication of Nepal's continued backslide on issues of religious freedom.  Earlier this year, the Nepali parliament passed a new law criminalizing conversions to non-Hindu religions. The parliament passed the law despite Article 26 (3) of Nepal's 2015 constitution already restricting religious conversion and expression. Nate Lance, ICC's Advocacy Manager, said of these Christians' release, "International Christian Concern is so pleased that this situation has reached its rightful resolution.  However, the imprisonment of these Christians should have never taken place as the facts of their innocence were clear. This is a step in the right direction for religious freedom in Nepal, but there is still much work to be done.  No one should fear imprisonment for the free expression and practice of their religion."

US Efforts to Assist the Victims of Kim's Regime Cross a Major Legislative Hurdle

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2061, formally known as the North Korea Human Rights Reauthorization Act of 2017. This bill not only provides much needed relief to many displaced citizens of Kim Jong-un's cruel regime, but it also provides tools for the United States to more effectively respond to the North Korean crisis. The bill also renews the responsibilities of the Special Envoy to North Korea and provides congressional oversight for all US endeavors concerning North Korea, including technology and information drops, radio broadcasting, and refugee assistance.

This bill, introduced in April of this year, renews legislation that was passed in 2004, granting relief to the North Korean people. For almost 70 years, North Korea has been ruled by the Kim family. Countless thousands have fled the state in order to avoid execution, starvation, or life imprisonment for trivial offenses against the state. In an effort to provide aid to those who have fled the atrocities of the Kim regime, H.R. 2061 will place much needed resources in the hands of those who can directly assist the most destitute individuals.

In a statement prior to the vote in yesterday's session, Congressman Ed Royce asserted, "The Kim regime wants to pose a mortal threat to the United States, and to our democratic, treaty allies: South Korea and Japan. But in facing this reality, we cannot afford to forget the regime's greatest victim and longest-held hostage: The North Korean people themselves." In a time when tensions with the North Korean government are at an all-time high, H.R. 2061 provides the necessary tools for the US government to help address this human rights crisis.

Nate Lance, ICC's Advocacy Manager, stated, "ICC is pleased to see H.R. 2061 pass through the US House of Representatives.  This bill is critically important in allowing the US to address the human rights crisis in North Korea through its special envoy on human rights and the variety of programs to enhance humanitarian support outside of the country and promote freedom of information.  I agree with Chairman Royce when he says that although we are in a tense security situation with North Korea, the North Korean people cannot be forgotten.  The House has demonstrated that commitment, and I hope the Senate will follow shortly."
