MESSAGE FOR REFLECTION
“LORD, I BELIEVE; HELP MY UNBELIEF!”
Mark 9:23-24 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
1.WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THIS INCIDENT?
Context: Jesus just came down from the Mount of Transfiguration Mark 9:2-8. At the bottom, the other disciples are failing to cast a demon out of a boy Mark 9:14-18. The father brings his son to Jesus. The boy had a mute/deaf spirit since childhood Mark 9:17,21. It throws him into fire and water to destroy him. The disciples couldn’t help Mark 9:18.
Mark 9:22 — The desperate father says: “But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
That “if You can” is the key. Jesus picks up on it.
2.VERSE BY VERSE MEDITATION
Mark 9:23 — “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Jesus flips the father’s words. The father said “if You can” questioning Jesus’ power. Jesus says the issue isn’t “if I can” — it’s “if you can believe.”
Greek nuance: Some manuscripts read “If You can believe?” Jesus is repeating the dad’s doubt back to him, almost like: “‘If You can’?
Everything is possible for the one who believes.”
All things are possible — Not a blank cheque for anything we want.
1 John 5:14 clarifies: “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
”It means no situation is too hard for God when faith is present. Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Jesus is saying: “The power isn’t the problem. The channel of faith is.” Hebrews 11:6 — “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.”
Mark 9:24 — “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!’”
This is one of the most honest prayers in the Bible.
→Immediately — No delay. He doesn’t pretend. He’s desperate and real.
→With tears — This isn’t theology. This is a dad watching his son suffer for years. Psalm 56:8 “You put my tears into Your bottle.”
→“Lord, I believe” — He does have faith. He brought the boy to Jesus. He hasn’t walked away. That’s belief. Rom 10:10 “with the heart one believes.”
→“Help my unbelief!” — But his faith is mixed with doubt. And he admits it. He doesn’t fake strong faith. He asks Jesus to help the weak part.
Jesus’ response: He doesn’t rebuke the weak faith. Mark 9:25-27 — He immediately rebukes the demon, heals the boy, and lifts him up.
Point: Jesus responds to honest, dependent faith — even if it’s small Matt 17:20 “faith as a mustard seed.” He doesn’t need perfect faith. He is perfect, and He helps our unbelief.
3.WHAT DOES THIS TEACH US TODAY?
Truth. Mark 9:23-24
For us
a.Doubt doesn’t disqualify you.
The father doubted but still came to Jesus
Matt 14:31 Peter sank, but Jesus caught him. Bring your doubt to Jesus, do not go away from Him
b.Faith is the issue, not God’s power
“If you can believe” Jas 1:6-7 “Ask in faith, with no doubting.” The question isn’t “Can God?” It’s “Will I trust?”
c.Honest prayer is a powerful prayer “Help my unbelief!” said with tears
Ps 34:18 “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart.” God isn’t scared of your weak faith
d.Jesus meets us in the tension
He heals despite mixed faith
Isa 42:3 “A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench.” He fans small faith into flame
e.Faith grows by looking at Jesus, not self
Father stops staring at himself and his weak faith but looks at Jesus and cries “Lord” Heb 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”
4.WHY DID THE DISCIPLES FAIL EARLIER
Jesus tells them in Mark 9:29: “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
Some problems require deeper dependence. The disciples tried in their own strength.
Mark 9:18. The father models the right way: “Lord... help.” 2 Cor 12:9 “My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Bottom line: Mark 9:23-24 gives permission to be a Christian with shaky faith. You don’t need 100% certainty to come to Jesus. You need
1% faith + 100% honesty
“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” is often the most faithful prayer you can pray.

Inheriting the churches in DELHI
With 7 days praise and worship, inheritance of churches started from 16th Jan, 2026 constituency wise starting with New Delhi and ending with South Delhi constituency by one group of 2 soldiers which multiplied into 5 groups. After another 7 days of worship, the remaining churches of Delhi, Patiala, Uttarakhand and adopted countries like Poland, UAE, Israel, and Japan were inherited. Totally 340 churches were inherited.

EARTHQUAKE OF MAGNITUDE 5 HITS HIMACHAL PRADESH
The depth of the earthquake, which struck about 40 km from Dharamsala near the Kangra- Chamba border at 10:04 pm, was 5 km, the meteorological office said
Tremors were felt in parts of Kangra, Chamba and adjoining districts of Himachal Pradesh after a 5.0 magnitude earthquake of moderate intensity hit the region on Friday night.
The depth of the earthquake, which struck about 40 km from Dharamsala near the Kangra- Chamba border at 10:04 pm, was 5 km, the meteorological office said, adding that the epicentre was located near Dhar Godoi in Kangra.
People in Dharamsala and nearby areas ran out of their houses in panic after the tremors were felt, though no loss of life or property has been reported from any part of the state so far, officials said.
The Kangra and Chamba districts fall under Seismic Zone 5, a high-damage risk zone.
Tremors were also felt in Chandigarh and parts of Punjab and Haryana, reports said.
A Chandigarh resident, Baldev Chand, who lives on the second floor of a three-storey building, said he felt a mild tremor at about 10 am when he was preparing to sleep.
"The tremors lasted only for a few seconds," he said.
