Message for reflection – Sr. Angelica AOJ
In continuation of the Model Church vision the Lord gave a seven fold agenda for the Churches on 27.10.2014.
One among the seven was that servants of God have no right to demand money from any believer. Everyone should work for their livelihood and do ministry like Apostle Paul.
The time of full-time ministry is over. (Jer 16:16) The Church has entered into an era of marketplace evangelism. In the ENHF Vision “India 2020”, the Lord had made it very clear.
While pouring this “New Wine” (Marketplace evangelism strategy) into new vine skins, let us meditate on its biblical background.
Bible presents a silent man called Joseph from the place Arimathea in Judea. He was a member of the Jewish council during the time when Jesus lived.
Mar 15:43 Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellor, who also waited for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
Joseph of Arimathea is said to be an “honourable counsellor” who waited for the kingdom of God. He was in the Jewish ruling council (member of the Sanhedrin) in Jerusalem. Specifically, he was a member of the council that played a role in condemning Jesus. Despite being part of this group, Joseph opposed their decision and was secretly a disciple of Jesus and awaiting the kingdom of God.
All through the public life of Jesus, Joseph would have been in the council of the Jews as counsellor. We can imagine how miserable and agonizing it would have been for him to present himself in the council every time when they brought the issue of Jesus. How hard to remain there and execute his duties. All the decisions about Jesus’ betrayal, arrest, trials, scourging, sentence to death, crucifixion, burial would have come to this council for discussion and decision. Joseph is known as an “honourable counsellor”. What opinion he would have given about Jesus? His opinion was respected by all.
Joseph was waiting to see the kingdom of God. He would have identified Jesus as the Messiah sent to the world. As a human being, many times he would have faced the temptation of quitting the Sanhedrin because it was against Jesus.
Majority of the counsellors would have condemned and talked ill about Jesus all the time. Joseph went on listening, speaking very little. But his heart would have been torn every time he attended the council. But God kept him unaffected and protected there for a purpose without allowing him to quit.
Bible presents Lot also in the same condition
2Pe 2:7 -8 And kept safe Lot, the upright man, who was deeply troubled by the unclean life of the evil-doers. Because the soul of that upright man living among them was pained from day to day by seeing and hearing their crimes.
Another example for marketplace evangelism from Bible is Nicodemus.
Joh 7:50-51 Nicodemus—he who had come to Jesus before, being himself one of them—said to them, Is a man judged by our law before it has given him a hearing and has knowledge of what he has done?
He would have been facing the same agony and pain like Joseph every time he attended the council. Look at the way they insulted him.
Joh 7:52 This was their answer: And do you come from Galilee? Make search and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee?
But God allowed them to be there for a purpose. He was also of help to Joseph in burying the body of Jesus.
Joh 19:39-40 And Nicodemus came he who had first come to Jesus by night with a roll of myrrh and aloes mixed, about a hundred pounds. Then they took the body of Jesus, folding linen about it with the spices, as is the way of the Jews when they put the dead to rest.
All the problems we see in the Church today is because of its failure in accomplishing the mission of “Evangelizing” the world.
The institutional Church encourages the believers to withdraw from taking up the challenges of shining in the dark places. Whenever, wherever they saw darkness, instead of fighting with the enemy and driving him away, believers are encouraged to quit, to resign and shrunk into the snail shell, a comfort zone. The false theology of the Church encouraged the believers to be only inside the walls of the Church. The enemy projected the walls of Church building as the safest place to hide from all the problems; “clapping and singing” leaving the world in pitch dark.
Bible never asks the believers to withdraw from workplace, where there are challenges, but face them boldly, reflect the image of Jesus till the work of darkness are reproved and exposed to light.
Eph 5:11-13 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
In the Book of Esther, the gentile king Ahasuerus seems to have a council.
Est 1:13 And the king said to the wise men, who had knowledge of the times, for this was the king's way with all who were expert in law and in the giving of decisions:
According to the counsel he received from his councillors the king made a decree and circulated it throughout his empire in all the languages and to all the people groups. They did not have the code of Moses’ Law since they were not Jews. But they followed the law of Human Government given by God during the time of Noah. They counselled him so well in the laws put forward for the family by God, which is the basic unit of a society.
Est 1:18 And this day the princesses of Persia and Media shall say the same to all the king's princes who have heard of the deed of the queen. And there will be contempt and strife.
Est 1:22 For he sent letters into all the king's provinces, into every province according to the writing of it, and to every people in their language, so that every man should bear rule in his own house, and published according to the language of every people.
The Lord wants His people to be in every walk of life to give counsel, to be ambassadors, priests, kings and prophets. The worldly position you hold in this world is not important. Even by being a housemaid, like the servant of Naman, you can change the destiny of a Nation, by being a light shining in darkness.
Dear soldiers, SMPs, SMLAs, try to enter into the dark fortresses of the enemy, break them open, and take the plunder!
Mar 3:27 No one can enter into a strong one's house and plunder his goods; except he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.
Identify the strong man in your constituency, tie him up, and plunder it. Victory is yours!

Now, know which coach will be empty before the train arrives. If you were told you could tell which coach is full and which is empty before the train arrives, would you believe it? New technology in the Delhi Metro is now providing this information to passengers on the platform before the train arrives. Updates will be available on the platform itself. The PIDS (Passenger Information Display System) installed on the Delhi Metro platforms not only informs passengers about train arrival times but also about the occupancy of each coach (e.g., C1, C2, C3, etc.). PROPHECY NEWS
WHY THE US GOVERNMENT HAS SHUT DOWN AND WHAT HAPPENS NOW
The US government shutdown is still going on after Republican and Democratic politicians again failed to agree how to resolve a budget dispute.
It means that some, but not all, US government services are temporarily suspended, and 40% of the federal workforce - about 750,000 people - are on unpaid leave.
Although budget confrontations are common in US politics, this spending fight is especially tense because President Donald Trump has drastically reduced the size of the national government since taking office, and has suggested he may use the current impasse to make further cuts.
Why did the US government shut down?
The shutdown happened because Republicans and Democrats could not agree to pass a bill funding government services into October and beyond.
Under the US system, the different branches of government have to reach an agreement on spending plans before they can become law.
The Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress. But in the Senate - or upper chamber - they are short of the 60 votes needed to pass the spending bill, which gives opposition Democrats some negotiating power.
They want to see an extension of expiring tax credits which make health insurance cheaper for millions of Americans, and for a reversal of Trump's cuts to Medicaid, a government healthcare programme used by millions of elderly, disabled and low-income people.
Democrats also oppose spending cuts to government health agencies.
A stopgap bill designed to avoid the shutdown was passed in the House, or lower chamber, but did not clear the Senate.
And so, at 00:01 EDT on 1 October (04:01 GMT), the US government had its first shutdown for nearly seven years.
Which government services have stopped, and which are carrying on?
Not all aspects of government stop during a shutdown. Services deemed essential continue as normal, although in many cases staff are not paid for the duration of the suspension.
Border protection and law enforcement staff, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, and in-hospital medical care workers are expected to operate as usual.
However thousands of flights have been cancelled or delayed because of of a shortage of air traffic controllers, who are also expected to work without pay.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said lots of workers have called in sick, and estimated that staffing levels have dropped to 50% at times in some areas.
Social security and Medicare cheques are still being sent out, although benefit verification and card issuance work may stop.
Government employees deemed non-essential have been furloughed - temporarily put on unpaid leave. Contractors who work for federal agencies but are not directly employed by the government are missing out on work, too.
Several agencies, like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have also furloughed many workers, affecting ongoing research projects.
Services like the food assistance programme and federally-funded pre-school and institutions like the Smithsonian museums have been reduced or closed.
The National Park Service said its 433 sites would remain partially open, but with limited facilities for visitors, after more than half of its employees were put on leave.
During the previous shutdown between December 2018 and January 2019, National Parks were kept open with no staff, which led to vandalism and looting at a number of historical sites.
- 'No good outcome' - voters across US share concerns about shutdown
- Jobs, travel, national parks - what impact will the shutdown have?
- 18 ways the last shutdown hurt
Mail is still being delivered and post offices are open because the US Postal Service does not depend on Congress for funding.
Most American schools are state-funded, but the federal government is responsible for billions of dollars in grants and student loans, which could effectively come to a halt.
However, because the grants are typically awarded during the summer, schools are expected to be largely unaffected during this shutdown, according to the education secretary.
Members of Congress are still being paid, a convention that has been criticised by some politicians.
How has the White House responded to the shutdown?
In the past, lengthy government shutdowns were usually seen as politically dangerous, hampering voters' everyday lives and the reputation of lawmakers and the president.
After previous shutdowns were resolved, government operations mostly returned to normal, with staff receiving back pay for the period, and government spending largely going back to previous levels.
However this time, the White House appears more than happy to shutter large parts of the US government for an extended period.
Over the past nine months the Trump administration has slashed government spending and sacked many federal workers, testing the boundaries of presidential power.
Officials have threatened to use the shutdown to identify more "non-essential" workers who could be permanently let go.
"We'll be laying off a lot of people," Trump said on 30 September, the day before the shutdown began.
The administration has also warned that furloughed "non-essential" workers may not receive their unpaid salary after the shutdown finishes.
On 7 October, Trump told reporters that back pay "depends on who we're talking about" and that some workers "don't deserve to be taken care of".
Many lawmakers insist this is wrong, including the top Democrat in the US House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, who said: "The law is clear - every single furloughed federal employee is entitled to back pay, period."
Trump's comments were made the day after the Senate failed for a fifth time to pass the spending measures that would allow government to resume.
Neither of the competing proposals put forward by Democrats and Republicans received enough votes.
How long will the current shutdown last?
It is difficult to say. In this case, it really depends when - or if - either of the parties will agree to a compromise.
The Republicans could negotiate an extension to the healthcare subsidies demanded by the Democrats.
Alternatively the shutdown could become so disruptive that the Democrats decide to back down and agree to fund the government - at least temporarily - to get things up and running again.
So far, the Trump administration has been been unwilling to offer substantive concessions. It believes the Democrats will bear the brunt of the public's blame because it argues the party's demands caused the shutdown.
Meanwhile the Democrats believe their efforts to secure cheaper healthcare are popular.
The party's congressional leaders provoked the ire of some left-wing activists for backing down during the last budget dispute in March.
Many Democrats seem to be itching for a bigger fight this time around – and funding the government is one of the only places where the party has some leverage.
How could the shutdown affect the economy?
The scale of the damage will depend in part on how long the shutdown lasts - and how wide ranging it is.
Analysts estimate it could shave roughly 0.1 to 0.2 percentage points off economic growth for each week that it continues - although much of that could be recouped, as has happened after previous shutdowns.
That relatively muted impact may be why the stock market seems to be shrugging off this latest threat.
But if Trump ends up firing workers, rather than temporarily putting them on furlough - or doesn't pay a substantial portion of them - the impact could be more substantial.
The US economy has already been hit by the effects of Trump's tariffs, with the likely delay of key data - such as the official US monthly jobs report - expected to add to the uncertainty.
What happened during previous US government shutdowns?
Shutdowns over budgets are a unique aspect of US politics.
They have become quite common over the past 50 years - with three taking place during Trump's first presidential term.
The last shutdown which began in late December 2018 lasted 35 days - the longest in history.
It was brought about by disagreements over funding a wall on the Mexico border.
It finally ended in part because large numbers of air traffic controllers, who had been working for a month without pay, began calling in sick, as has started to happen during the current shutdown.
At the time, flight disruption quickly spread, and the shutdown came to an end shortly afterwards.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that the 2018-2019 shutdown reduced economic output by about $11bn, including $3bn that it never regained.
But shutdowns pre-date Trump.
The second longest to date was 21 days, under Democrat President Bill Clinton in 1995. His fellow Democrat Barack Obama had a 16-day shutdown during his time in the White House, and Republican Ronald Reagan oversaw eight shutdowns during his presidency in the 1980s - though all were relatively brief.
Prayer for the troop churches (2025)
This is the section for praying for the troop church. The first troop was started on November 12, 1998, named "Elshadai". From that day till today, new troops are being started. As Nehemiah built the wall, the troop churches are building the dilapidated walls of the church here and there. The troops started in 2014 were called Troop Meeting, and the troop started from August 6, 2014 onwards is called Troop Church. There will be 10 people in a troop church. God gave the command that the troops should be watered daily. We used to publish a book called 'Aniyosai' to pray for the troops. It was discontinued in 2015. Now these prayer notes are being added to the Kingdom Gazette. As given below, we will pray regularly for the troop churches.
We will pray for the troop churches that were started by those who participated in the early days of AOJ. The names of the troop churches that were started by ten people are given below. May they stand here and there and build the walls of India as Nehemiah built the walls. We will pray for 10 troop churches in a day with great intensity. We will pray for the unity of the 10 people in the troop church and for them to build with Jesus as the cornerstone.
