Psa:34:1 - I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Psalms are sacred songs which are deep and delightful outpourings of souls praising and worshipping the One Who created us. They are the birth of new compositions resulting from the spiritual pleasure of an entirely sacred union of an earthly soul with the Divine Master.

In this verse, the psalmist highlights the epitome of extolment of the Lord. It can only proceed out of the heart of a true devotee who deeply loves and adores the Lord.

Also, he realizes the benefits of abiding in the presence of a merciful, compassionate, longsuffering and sovereign Father. And who other can it be than King David, God’s chosen vessel. His heart is set ablaze in praise of God’s glory. This results in such a deep outpouring of the Spirit that it instils an intense devotion in the heart of the reader. It transfers them to higher levels of worship and glorifying God

King David believes in continuously blessing the Lord from the spirit which results in spontaneous outflows in the form of verbal devotions from the mouth. These ‘fruits’ of worship are a means of solace and alleviation to the listener as well as the singer for whom they are an attempt to quench

his ‘spiritual thirst’.

Believers United to Christ

1)         Romans 7:4  (In Jesus,  I died to the Law through the [crucified] body of Christ, so that I may belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that I may bear fruit for God.)

 …… ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

2)         Romans 7:6 (In Jesus, I am released from the Law and its penalty, having died   to that by which I was held captive. Now, I serve [God] in the new way of living in the Spirit  and not in the  old way of obeying the letter of the law.)

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Escape from Bondage

 3)         Romans 8:1 (In Jesus, I have now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for I believe in Him as my personal Lord and Saviour].)

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

4)         Romans 8:2 (In Jesus, the law of the Spirit of life [the law of our new being] has set me free from the law of sin and of death.)

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

5)         Romans 8:3 (In Jesus, God condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it] by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. By doing so, God accomplished what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its power] being weakened by the flesh [man’s nature without the Holy Spirit].)

 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

6)         Romans 8:4 (In Jesus, the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law is fulfilled in me who does not live my life in the ways of the flesh [guided by worldliness and sinful nature], but [live my life] in the ways of the Spirit [guided by His power].)

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

7)         Romans 8:5  (In Jesus, I live according to the Spirit, [set my mind on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose].)

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

8)         Romans 8:6 (In Jesus, I have the mind of the Spirit which is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever].)

 …… but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

9)         Romans 8:9 (In Jesus, I am not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit. In fact, the Spirit of God lives in me [directing and guiding me].)

 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you…..

10)       Romans 8:10 (In Jesus, my spirit is alive because of righteousness [which He provides], since He lives in me, though my [natural] body is dead because of sin.)

And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11)       Romans 8:11 (In Jesus, the Spirit of Him [God] Who raised His Son from the dead lives in me. So, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to my mortal body through His Spirit, Who lives in me.)

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12)       Romans 8:13 (In Jesus, I am living by the [power of the Holy] Spirit and am habitually putting to death the sinful deeds of the body. So, I will [really] live forever.)

……if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

13)       Romans 8:14 (In Jesus, I am the son/daughter of God as I allow myself to be led by the Spirit of God.)

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

14)       Romans 8:15 (In Jesus, I have not received a spirit of slavery leading again to fear [of God’s judgment], but I have received the Spirit of adoption as sons [the Spirit producing sonship] by which I [joyfully] cry, “Abba! Father!”.)

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

15)       Romans 8:16 (In Jesus, the Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are the children of God.)

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

16)       Romans 8:17 (In Jesus, since we are His children, we are His heirs also; heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance].If indeed we share in His suffering, we will also share in His glory.)

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
